Our company’s study abroad program took place in March 2025, and over 20 Japanese students had the opportunity to experience life in beautiful Victoria. We’d like to share a glimpse of their time here.

When the students first met their host families, they were understandably nervous. However, despite the long flight, they were warmly welcomed and greeted their hosts with cheerful smiles.

During the weekdays, the students attended school or participated in fun and educational activities organized by VIEC. In the evenings and on weekends, they especially looked forward to spending quality time with their host families — sharing meals, conversations, and everyday moments together.

Host families provide three meals a day, and while many of the dishes are new to the students, this becomes a wonderful chance for cultural exchange. Through these shared meals, students not only experienced Canadian cuisine but also learned about local customs and family life.

For many students, the bond with their host family became so strong that they didn’t want to leave — some even wished they could stay longer. It wasn’t just the students who had a great time; host families also enjoyed the cultural exchange, forming meaningful connections and learning just as much in return.

Through this homestay experience, students and families alike created lifelong memories and friendships that will last far beyond the program itself.

We have many more Japanese students coming to Victoria this summer, and we’re excited to help create even more unforgettable homestay experiences for everyone involved.
