VIEC Spring Program 2026 – A Wonderful 10 Days in Victoria

This spring, we were delighted to host the VIEC Spring Program 2026, a special short-term program held during spring break in beautiful Victoria. The program took place over 10 days, from March 25 to April 3, offering students a valuable opportunity to experience life and learning in Canada.

5 enthusiastic students from Japan, aged 13 to 14, joined the program and spent their spring break improving their English while discovering a new city and culture. throughout their stay, the students lived with local host families, attended fun activities, and explored the vibrant community of Victoria.

For many of the participants, this was their first time traveling abroad on their own. Despite the initial nerves, the students quickly adapted to their new environment and embraced every moment of this exciting international experience.

Learning, Exploring, and Connecting

During the program, students attended English classes every morning, where they practiced communication skills and built confidence using English in real-life situations. Over the course of the program, they worked hard to improve their English, and on the fin la day, they received certificates to celebrate their achievements.

After lunch, they participated in a variety of fun and interactive activities around Vitoria.

Some highlights included a downtown walking tour, a scavenger hunt, and the exciting “Rags to Riches” challenge, where students started with a simple pen and tried to exchange it with people they met on the street for different items. These activities encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones and use English in authentic conversations.
For these activities, the students were joined by Canadian buddies of similar age. The buddies supported them throughout the activities and helped them communicate in English, making the experience both fun and meaningful.

The group also explored local culture and history through visits to the Royal BC Museum, the beautiful British Columbia Parliament Buildings, and Craigdarroch Castle. They also joined a Totem Pole tour and visited a local private school in Victoria, where they learned about the Canadian school system and interacted with local students.

During the weekend, the students spent time with their host families. Many families took them to wonderful places such as Butchart Gardens, Hatley Castile, and local shopping malls. The students truly enjoyed their time with their host families and created many warm memories together.

A Memorable Spring Experience in Victoria

Over the course of 10-day program, the students not only improved their English skills but also experienced Canadian culture, made new friends, and gained confidence communicating in a new environment. Through their classes, activities, and time spent with their host families, they created many unforgettable memories in Victoria.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the host families, buddies, and partners who supported the program. Their kindness and support made this experience truly special for the students. We look forward to welcoming more students in future programs and continuing to create meaningful international experiences here in Victoria.
